I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Flanders Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
Flanders properties near the Peconic River and on sloped terrain can lose topsoil quickly during heavy rainfall, especially on newly graded or freshly planted areas. Applying shredded hardwood mulch at least three inches deep on bare slopes immediately after grading helps anchor soil while ground cover plants establish their root systems. For steeper grades, pairing mulch with larger river stone creates a more stable surface. MulchMound can supply both materials in a single bulk delivery to your Flanders property.

Try Our CalculatorFlanders gardens benefit greatly from incorporating bulk compost into planting beds each spring. The sandy loam soils common in this area release nutrients quickly, leaving plants hungry by midsummer. Working 2 to 3 inches of compost into the top 6 inches of soil before planting builds organic matter, improves moisture retention, and feeds soil biology, reducing the need for synthetic fertilizers throughout the growing season.
Delivering to Flanders, New York
Primary ZIP: 11901+1 ZIP codes
Before the first frost arrives in Flanders, typically around November 9, top off mulch layers in perennial beds to at least 3 inches. This insulates roots through the freeze-thaw cycles common in Zone 7b winters. Pull mulch back slightly from plant crowns to prevent rot, and schedule a bulk delivery of shredded hardwood in late October so material is in place before the ground hardens.
