We got 3 yards of the gardening top soil. It was great quality, not many chunks and seems good for growing, just waiting for all my plants to love it.
We had more than enough soil to fill a raised bed we made and landscaped around a patio. I do wish we could do less than 3 yds delivered but I understand the limitations.
My only concern was we requested it on the top left of our driveway since we had mulch on the other side, they ended up pouring it on top of the mulch (it was covered with a tarp so not ruined) making it difficult to complete our landscaping in a timely fashion.

Best Mulch Choice for Bridgeport Lawns
Most yards in the Bridgeport area sit on Sandy Loam type of soil. Expect quick drainage and faster drying soil, with nutrients that can leach after heavy rain.
Hardwood Mulch
Hardwood mulch slows evaporation, reduces nutrient splash and runoff, and adds organic matter that helps the soil hold water longer.
Complete Your Outdoor Mulch Project
A polished Bridgeport landscape uses more than one material. Add soil to prep your beds and stone to frame them. We deliver mulch, soil, and stone together.
Wear sturdy gloves when handling mulch, especially dyed varieties that can stain. The colorant does not harm plants but it will stain your hands, clothing, and anything else it contacts for several days.
Mulch Mound Pro Tip
Organic mulches feed earthworms as they decompose over time. More worms mean better soil aeration, improved drainage, and natural fertilization happening beneath your beds without any extra work from you.
Mulch Mound Pro Tip
Replenish mulch around high traffic areas more often than the rest of your beds. Paths through beds, spots near hose bibs, and edges along driveways break down faster from foot traffic and regular disturbance.

Answer
What mulch is best for sandy loam?
For Bridgeport's sandy loam, hardwood is a strong choice. The organic matter from breakdown helps address coastal salt and wind gradually.
Answer
Does mulch help with drainage?
Not directly, but it stops crusting that causes runoff. Bridgeport yards benefit from better water infiltration through mulched beds.
Answer
Can I leave special delivery instructions?
Yes—there's a notes section at checkout for access codes, specific placement requests, or other details.
Answer
How often should I refresh mulch?
Every 12–18 months for most Bridgeport landscapes. Assess each spring and top up wherever depth has fallen below 2 inches.
Answer
How do I prepare before mulching?
Weed thoroughly, define your edges, remove debris. For Bridgeport's sandy loam, a light compost application before mulching pays off.
Answer
What depth should I apply mulch?
Between 2 and 4 inches is standard. Bridgeport's sandy loam responds best to about 3 inches—enough to suppress weeds without smothering roots.
Answer
Is dyed mulch safe for vegetable gardens?
Current dyed mulches use safe colorants. Still prefer caution with food plants? Keep dyed mulch in ornamental areas.
The Unique Landscape of Bridgeport
Mulch adds curb appeal and reduces weeding in one move. Bridgeport freeze–thaw and spring rain can beat up beds if materials aren’t refreshed. In Bridgeport, Connecticut, mulch is a simple way to sharpen edges, cut weeding time, and protect plants through the season. A consistent layer reduces splashback and keeps soil from crusting after rain. Aim for a 2–3 inch layer and keep it off trunks and stems. Go natural for a simple finish, or pick a dyed color to match your home and beds. Bulk delivery saves you the bag runs and puts the material right where you want it.
