A GREAT experience! The ordering process was clear and easy. The price was real good and delivery was right on the drive as asked and on time. It is a real nice product and I had the bags before this product is so much nicer and no bags to deal with or loading and unloading the car which is a BIG nuisance. I’ll be back! Before and after photos enclosed and looks great and the big pile of mulch right on the big tarp and the driver stayed on the driveway which was a great plus!!
Prompt, accommodating, lovely mulch.
Calculate mulch for your Lafayette project
For Lafayette's Silty Clay Loam type of soil, we recommend 2-3 inches for best weed suppression and moisture retention
Try Our CalculatorUse our satellite tool to trace your bed outlines and get a yardage estimate. For most Lafayette projects, 2 to 3 inches of depth strikes the right balance between coverage and cost.
Best Mulch Choice for Lafayette Lawns
Most yards in the Lafayette area sit on Silty Clay Loam type of soil. Expect fair drainage but a tendency to crust and compact under heavy rain if left uncovered.
Hardwood Mulch
Hardwood mulch protects the surface from crusting, evens out moisture, and adds organic matter as it breaks down over time.
Complete Your Outdoor Mulch Project
Complete your Lafayette project while you're at it. Soil improves planting conditions on silty clay loam ground, and stone adds structure to paths and borders.
Apply mulch after the soil warms in spring, not before. Mulching too early traps cold soil temperatures and delays root growth, which puts plants behind schedule for the growing season.
Artillery fungus appears as tiny black dots on siding, fences, and cars parked near mulch beds. It is nearly impossible to remove once attached. Avoid it by using bark mulch instead of wood chips near structures.
Mulch breaks down faster in wet climates than dry ones due to increased microbial activity. With 39 inches of annual rainfall, Lafayette beds typically need more frequent refreshing than gardens in arid regions.
The Unique Landscape of Lafayette
A fresh mulch layer makes a yard look finished and stay easier to manage. Seasonal weather in Lafayette can wear down beds if they are not refreshed regularly. In Lafayette, Indiana, a good mulch layer helps beds look finished while holding moisture and limiting weeds. Mulch keeps beds from drying out as fast and makes cleanups quicker. Refresh lightly as needed and keep mulch away from trunks. Natural hardwood blends in; dyed options add contrast and a "freshly edged" look. Delivery lets you finish the project in one go, no hauling, no repeat trips.
