A GREAT experience! The ordering process was clear and easy. The price was real good and delivery was right on the drive as asked and on time. It is a real nice product and I had the bags before this product is so much nicer and no bags to deal with or loading and unloading the car which is a BIG nuisance. I’ll be back! Before and after photos enclosed and looks great and the big pile of mulch right on the big tarp and the driver stayed on the driveway which was a great plus!!
Prompt, accommodating, lovely mulch.

Best Mulch Choice for Richmond Lawns
Most yards in the Richmond area sit on Clay type of soil. You often get dense soil, slow drainage, and sticky conditions when wet, then hard ground when dry.
Hardwood Mulch
A consistent hardwood mulch layer keeps clay from baking hard, limits runoff, and slowly feeds the soil as it breaks down.
Complete Your Outdoor Mulch Project
Your Richmond beds need more than a top layer. Soil gives plants room to grow in clay loam ground. Stone frames everything and handles foot traffic areas.
Replenish mulch around high traffic areas more often than the rest of your beds. Paths through beds, spots near hose bibs, and edges along driveways break down faster from foot traffic and regular disturbance.
Use a ruler or stick marked at 3 inches to check depth as you spread mulch across beds. Eyeballing mulch thickness is much harder than it looks and most people apply too thin for effective weed control.
Blow or rake leaves off mulch beds in fall before they mat down. A thick leaf layer mats down over winter and smothers the mulch beneath it, creating a soggy, compacted mess by spring that sheds water.
The Unique Landscape of Richmond
Mulch is the quickest upgrade for cleaner, lower‑maintenance beds. Richmond humidity and storms can fuel weeds and washout without good coverage. In Richmond, Virginia, a good mulch layer helps beds look finished while holding moisture and limiting weeds. It helps hold moisture, cuts weeds, and protects roots from temperature swings. 2–3 inches is the sweet spot—keep it pulled back from trees and shrubs. Go natural for a simple finish, or pick a dyed color to match your home and beds. Bulk delivery saves you the bag runs and puts the material right where you want it.
