I had a great experience with mulch mound. They delivered the mulch exactly where I asked and they were very pleasant when I called to ask for some help. The mulch was great quality and super easy to put down. I would definitely recommend them.

We got 3 yards of the gardening top soil. It was great quality, not many chunks and seems good for growing, just waiting for all my plants to love it.
We had more than enough soil to fill a raised bed we made and landscaped around a patio. I do wish we could do less than 3 yds delivered but I understand the limitations.
My only concern was we requested it on the top left of our driveway since we had mulch on the other side, they ended up pouring it on top of the mulch (it was covered with a tarp so not ruined) making it difficult to complete our landscaping in a timely fashion.
A 2-3 inch mulch depth handles most West Palm Beach yards well, enough to block weeds without smothering roots. Trace your beds with our satellite tool to estimate yardage before ordering. You can go thinner on fresh plantings or thicker in high-traffic areas.
Mulch vs. No Mulch: The Difference
Tropical rain totals and zero frost create very short mulch cycles. Plan on refreshing twice per year minimum.

Best Mulch Choice for West Palm Beach Lawns
Most yards in the West Palm Beach area sit on Sandy/Limestone type of soil. Sand drains fast and limestone substrate can limit root depth. Moisture retention is the main challenge.
Hardwood Mulch
Hardwood mulch slows evaporation from the surface, reduces nutrient leaching, and builds organic content that sandy ground naturally lacks.
Complete Your Outdoor Mulch Project
Mulch covers the top, but what's underneath counts too. Soil improves drainage and root health on sandy/limestone ground in West Palm Beach. Stone handles high-traffic areas.
Edge your beds before mulching for a clean, professional look. A clean cut edge gives mulch a defined border that holds its shape and prevents creep into the lawn over the season.
Mulch Mound Pro Tip
If you see white fungal threads in your mulch, do not panic or remove the mulch. Beneficial fungi break down organic matter and improve your soil structure. They are a sign the mulch is working.
Mulch Mound Pro Tip
In West Palm Beach's tropical climate, hardwood mulch typically breaks down in 12 to 18 months depending on moisture and temperature. Budget for annual top-dressing each spring to maintain proper depth and appearance year-round.
Frequently Asked Questions
Click a question to see the answer
Answer
How do I prepare before mulching?
Weed thoroughly, define your edges, remove debris. For West Palm Beach's sandy/limestone soil, a light compost application before mulching pays off.
Answer
When is the best time to mulch?
In West Palm Beach, you can mulch year round. Avoid the peak of summer heat if possible and water beds before applying.
Answer
How is delivery priced?
Pricing is based on material cost plus delivery distance. Enter your zip at checkout to see exact pricing. One delivery covers the full order.
Answer
Can I mulch around trees?
Absolutely, but form a flat ring, not a volcano. Keep mulch 3 to 4 inches from the trunk and spread out to the drip line for maximum benefit.
Answer
How far should mulch be from plant stems?
Keep 2-3 inches clear around stems and trunks. Mulch against bark holds moisture and invites rot, especially in West Palm Beach's tropical conditions.
Answer
Do I need to be home for delivery?
No need. Just provide placement instructions and select your time window at checkout. Most customers aren't home for delivery.
Answer
What about pine straw vs hardwood?
Pine straw works well around acid-loving plants and drains faster than shredded hardwood. Hardwood breaks down slower and builds soil over time. Both work in West Palm Beach.
The Unique Landscape of West Palm Beach
Mulch keeps beds tidy while doing real work for your plants. West Palm Beach humidity and storms can fuel weeds and washout without good coverage. In West Palm Beach, Florida, mulch keeps beds cleaner, reduces weeds, and helps moisture stay more consistent. It helps hold moisture, cuts weeds, and protects roots from temperature swings. Most beds do well with 2-3 inches; don't pile it against plants. Natural hardwood blends in; dyed options add contrast and a "freshly edged" look. Delivery keeps the focus on the work, not on loading and unloading bags.
