I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

The Problem
The walkways and courtyards shows it first when heat and watering rules make timing tight. Everything planted here struggles or dies within a season. You need vendors who understand that your schedule is your reputation. You end up guessing how much to amend, then wishing you bought more.
The Solution
You pick the soil blend that matches your drainage and planting needs. Pricing is upfront, ordering is online, and scheduling is simple. Your materials land close to the project, ready when you are.
The Results
Plants perk up because roots can breathe and drain properly. Timeline held, margin held, and the client is satisfied. The finish looks professional because the process was.

Get Started with Mulch Mound Today
Columbia sits on gently rolling terrain in central Missouri where dense clay soils, enriched by centuries of forest cover but slow to drain, shape every landscaping decision from the historic neighborhoods near the University of Missouri Columns to the newer subdivisions spreading outward along I-70. The Hinkson Creek corridor and the surrounding slopes make erosion and moisture retention constant concerns for homeowners and gardeners throughout the area. With 44 inches of annual rainfall landing on that clay base, the right mulch and amended topsoil are not luxuries but practical necessities for keeping beds healthy and yards intact. Communities throughout the region, from Boonville along the Missouri River bluffs to Fulton and Jefferson City, share these central Missouri soil challenges and benefit from the same quality bulk materials that Columbia homeowners rely on.
