Is there a stone yard or rock yard near Los Alamos?

Because Los Alamos is built on narrow mesa tops with canyons on either side, hauling loose rock up and down those roads is a chore. Instead of a trip to a stone yard or any other rock yard, we deliver Decomposed Granite or River Rock to your driveway, the same stone a yard would sell.

What materials do you deliver in Los Alamos?

Most Los Alamos yards need compost first, since the fast draining sandy loam over pumice holds so little moisture. After that come topsoil and garden soil, mulch, fill dirt, and sand. We also deliver gravel and crushed stone, landscape rock, and firewood for the long cold season.

Do you install or spread mulch in Los Alamos?

Pinon needles and ponderosa litter pile up fast on Los Alamos mesa top lots, and many beds sit on a slope, so spreading mulch takes some planning. Mulch Mound brings the load only and leaves the spreading to the customer, and the driver can drop it on the driveway, on a tarp, or right beside the beds. A local landscaper can also spread it for anyone who would rather skip that job.

Los Alamos sits on a series of narrow volcanic fingers, the mesa tops carved out of Bandelier tuff by canyons that drain toward the Rio Grande. Yards here are stitched onto sandy loam over compacted pumice and rock, which drains fast and holds almost none of the 18 inches of moisture the town gets in a year. Add 7,300 feet of elevation, brutal ultraviolet light, and pinon and ponderosa dropping needles across every bed, and the result is soil that begs for organic matter and mulch that has to stay put on a slope. We haul compost blends, screened topsoil, and crushed basalt and river rock up the hill to Los Alamos, down to White Rock above the canyon rim, and south through the Pojoaque valley into Santa Fe.
