I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Loomis Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
Loomis orchardists and home gardeners should schedule a late-winter soil amendment application between the last frost around February 25 and the first spring warm spell in March. Spreading a layer of bulk topsoil blended with organic compost over existing beds during this narrow window lets winter rains help work the nutrients down before the growing season begins. This timing takes advantage of natural precipitation rather than relying entirely on supplemental irrigation, which is especially valuable given the area's modest 18-inch annual rainfall.

Try Our CalculatorLoomis homeowners with oak trees on their property should use native wood chip mulch rather than dyed or chemically treated products in the mulch ring around each tree. Native wood chips closely mimic the forest floor environment that oaks prefer, supporting the mycorrhizal fungi that help trees draw water and nutrients from clay soils. Spreading a 4-inch ring of bulk wood chips from MulchMound.com each fall gives Loomis oaks a head start before the dry season stress of the following summer.

Delivering to Loomis, California
Primary ZIP: 95650Because Loomis properties often include gravel driveways and rural paths, maintaining a proper base of compacted crushed aggregate under surface gravel prevents ruts and potholes from developing during the wet winter season. A 4-inch base of 3/4-inch crushed base rock topped with a 2-inch finish layer of pea gravel or decomposed granite creates a stable, low-maintenance surface well suited to the clay subsoil common throughout the Loomis area. MulchMound.com can deliver both base and finish gravel in a single scheduled order.
Get Started with Mulch mound Today
Loomis is a charming foothill community in Placer County where rural character meets suburban convenience, and properties often feature fruit orchards, native plantings, and vegetable gardens that require real landscaping effort. The town's foothill location means slightly different soil conditions than valley communities, and getting the right amendments and mulch matters more than ever. MulchMound.com extends its bulk delivery service to Loomis, bringing topsoil blends, bark mulch, and gravel to properties that would otherwise require long hauling trips. Loomis gardeners can now focus on growing instead of transporting.
