I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

The Problem
It hits you looking at parking lot islands—heavy clay holds water forever. The ground is hard as concrete and roots cannot spread. You are managing dozens of priorities—this needs to be one and done. Beds settle and plants struggle when the base is poor.
The Solution
You choose a soil that actually improves structure, then schedule delivery. You know the total before you click. That is how it should work. Delivery drops right where you want it, exactly when expected.
The Results
Beds level out cleanly, and planting feels easier instead of sticky and heavy. Vendors delivered as promised—that goes in the notes. Ownership sees results, you have the documentation to prove it.
Where We Come In
Quality soil grows better plants. Bulk delivery gets you the real thing, not whatever is on the shelf.
Get Started with Mulch Mound Today
Steubenville sits where the Ohio River has carved a deep valley into the Appalachian foothills, creating steep residential hillsides and narrow bottomlands that demand very different landscaping approaches. The native silt loam soils hold moisture well but compact easily under foot traffic, making quality mulch essential for protecting tree roots and preserving bed structure through the city's wet, heavy springs. At zone 6b with roughly 40 inches of annual rainfall, hilltop properties above Historic Fort Steuben need erosion-resistant stone edging to keep beds from washing downslope after hard rains. Customers in nearby Weirton and Wheeling face similar terrain challenges along the tri-state ridgelines, while those in East Liverpool contend with comparable riverbank soil profiles. Whether you are refreshing planted borders near one of Steubenville's celebrated murals or building out a new terrace garden on a sloped lot, bulk mulch and decorative stone make the difference between beds that last and beds that erode away each season.
