I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
Homeowners in Los Fresnos frequently deal with standing water after heavy rains because of the area's flat topography and clay-heavy soils. Incorporating a layer of crushed granite or river gravel at the base of planting beds before adding topsoil helps water move through more freely. Raising bed grades by even a few inches with quality fill material can make a significant difference in preventing root rot and keeping plants healthy through the wet season.

Try Our CalculatorImproving the organic matter content of Los Fresnos soils is one of the best long-term investments a homeowner can make. Incorporating 2 to 3 inches of compost into planting beds each year gradually loosens clay-heavy soils, creating pore space that allows both water and air to reach plant roots more efficiently. Bulk compost delivered to your driveway is far more cost-effective than bagged product when you are treating multiple beds or a large garden area.
Delivering to Los Fresnos, Texas
Primary ZIP: 78566+1 ZIP codes
Los Fresnos yards with any slope or grade change are vulnerable to topsoil loss during intense summer thunderstorms. Anchoring bare soil with a 3-inch layer of shredded hardwood mulch or installing low ground cover plants reduces runoff velocity and keeps your topsoil where it belongs. For steeper spots, combining landscape fabric, river rock, and native ground covers like Frogfruit creates a durable, low-maintenance erosion barrier that performs well season after season.
