St. Petersburg sits low and flat on a peninsula between Tampa Bay and the Gulf, topping out around 36 feet, so yards here drain fast through sugar sand that holds almost nothing. That sand is old beach ridge and shell, alkaline in spots, and it lets 51 inches of yearly rain slip straight past root zones while summer storms wash bare beds toward the street. Salt spray near the Pier and the waterfront parks adds another layer of stress that inland lawns never face. We haul compost rich topsoil blends, hardwood and pine bark mulch, and shell and river rock north through Odessa, west into Beacon Square, and across the county line into South Highpoint.
