I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Tell City Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
Tell City's hilly terrain and heavy seasonal rainfall make erosion control a priority for any sloped yard or bare embankment. Spreading a 3-inch layer of shredded hardwood mulch on grades, combined with strategically placed river rock along drainage channels, helps slow water runoff and keeps topsoil anchored. For steeper slopes, laying jute netting beneath the mulch adds extra stability until ground cover plants can take root and hold the soil on their own.

Try Our CalculatorMany Tell City properties feature mature trees that cast deep shade, making it difficult to grow traditional turf grass. Instead of fighting those conditions, install shredded hardwood mulch under tree canopies and plant shade-tolerant perennials like hostas, astilbes, and ferns. These plants thrive in the moist, filtered-light conditions created by Tell City's forested ridges and river bottom landscapes throughout the growing season.
Delivering to Tell City, Indiana
Primary ZIP: 47586+1 ZIP codes
Tell City's hilly terrain often leaves exposed, compacted subsoil in areas where topsoil has washed away over time. Before planting new beds, work in 3 to 4 inches of bulk compost to rebuild organic matter and improve soil structure. With 48 inches of annual rainfall, compost breaks down quickly in this area, giving plant roots a welcoming environment and reducing future erosion on any disturbed or replanted slopes.
