Most Warwick rock projects go down over landscape fabric, so pick that up at the same time to keep the stone from sinking into the sandy loam beneath. A steel or aluminum edging strip keeps the rock contained along lawn borders and driveways where mowers and snow shovels pass through. If you are also mulching planting beds nearby, ordering both in one delivery keeps everything on one schedule.
Service area
Lay landscape fabric before spreading rock in Warwick's sandy loam, otherwise the stone slowly works its way into the soil over a few seasons and you lose depth without ever adding material. Overlap fabric seams by at least 6 inches and pin them well, since loam shifts more than clay when it freezes and thaws through the winter. This one step is what makes a rock bed a true one time install instead of a project you revisit in five years.
The biggest mistake in Warwick yards is using rock right up against plantings that want organic matter, like hostas or hydrangeas.
