I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Berkeley Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
Berkeley homeowners with limited yard space can dramatically expand their growing capacity by incorporating container gardens on patios, driveways, and front stoops. Fill large planters and raised container beds with a quality blend of bulk topsoil and compost rather than bagged potting mix alone, which dries out quickly and often lacks the density needed for larger plants. In Zone 6b, containers can go out after April 12 and support vegetables, herbs, and annuals well into October, giving small-space gardeners a full and genuinely productive growing season.

Try Our CalculatorThoughtful mulch color choices can elevate the curb appeal of any Berkeley property. Dark brown or black-dyed hardwood mulch creates bold contrast against green shrubs and lighter home exteriors, while natural cedar mulch offers a warmer, more subtle tone. Mulch colors fade through Missouri's intense summer sun, so plan to refresh your Berkeley beds each spring to maintain that clean, well-kept appearance throughout the growing season.
Delivering to Berkeley, Missouri

As Berkeley's first frost approaches around November 1, cutting back spent perennials and applying a 3 to 4-inch layer of mulch over root zones helps protect plants through zone 6b winters. Shredded hardwood mulch or shredded leaves both work well for this purpose. Come spring, pull the mulch back slightly from plant crowns after April 12 to allow new growth to emerge without rotting at the base.
