I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Burkburnett Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
Burkburnett's clay loam soil can become compacted and waterlogged after heavy spring rains, which stresses plant roots and limits growth. Working two to three inches of compost or a blended garden soil into your beds before planting season improves drainage and aeration significantly. Ordering bulk soil amendment from MulchMound.com means you can tackle the whole yard at once rather than hauling bags piecemeal from a store.

Try Our CalculatorBurkburnett summers bring intense heat that can quickly dry out planting beds. Applying a 3 to 4 inch layer of shredded hardwood mulch around trees and shrubs helps insulate roots, reduce moisture evaporation, and keep soil temperatures more stable. Avoid piling mulch directly against tree trunks, as this traps moisture and can invite disease. Refreshing your mulch layer each spring maintains full protective coverage through the hottest months.

Weed pressure in Burkburnett can be persistent, especially in open beds with disturbed soil. Laying a 2 to 3 inch layer of cedar or hardwood mulch after pulling weeds blocks sunlight and significantly reduces germination. For best results, apply mulch in late spring after the last frost on March 27 and top it off again in fall to suppress winter annuals and protect root systems heading into cooler weather.
