I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Carlyss Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
With 58 inches of rain a year, gravel drives in Carlyss wash out unless the base is right. Lay four inches of crushed limestone as a compacted base, then top with one to two inches of finer material and crown the center about two inches higher than the shoulders. Add a shallow ditch line along each side. Rebuilt correctly once, a drive holds for years instead of every rainy season.

Try Our CalculatorCarlyss lots tend to be larger and more open, which means wind and full sun dry beds fast between rains. Build a three inch hardwood mulch layer and extend beds wider than you think you need so plant roots are shaded, not just plant crowns. Water deeply twice a week rather than lightly every day. Deep infrequent soaking pushes roots down where summer heat cannot reach them.

Delivering to Carlyss, Louisiana
Primary ZIP: 70665If you keep livestock or run equipment across parts of your Carlyss property, protect the turf zones with a defined gravel apron near gates and barn doors. Six inches of compacted crushed limestone in those traffic areas stops the mud pit cycle that starts every wet season. Grade the apron to shed water outward, and reserve topsoil and sod for the areas you actually walk and mow.
Get Started with Mulch mound Today
Carlyss spreads out in a rural pattern of larger parcels, pasture edges, and homes set well off the road south of Sulphur. Long driveways, horse paddocks, and open acreage mean gravel, limestone, and washed sand see as much demand as garden mulch. MulchMound handles those bigger rural deliveries throughout Carlyss, bringing full loads where bagged material would take dozens of trips and cost far more.
