I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Phelan Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
In Phelan, where strong seasonal winds are common across open desert terrain, choose heavier decomposed granite or crushed rock as a ground cover rather than lightweight bark mulch that can scatter across your property. Locking in a two to three inch layer of compacted decomposed granite around planting beds anchors the soil, reduces dust, and cuts down on the yard cleanup that follows every windstorm. MulchMound.com can deliver the bulk quantities needed to cover Phelan's characteristically large parcels in one trip.
Need Help Calculating How Much You Need?
Use our NEW bulk material calculator where you can Trace from Satellite imaging to get a quick estimate for your project without busting out the tape measure
Try Our CalculatorPhelan residents planting native or drought-adapted shrubs should work bulk compost into each planting hole before backfilling, since the high desert soil in this area tends to be low in organic matter and drains too quickly to support new root development without amendment. A generous compost mix at planting time gives roots the moisture-holding environment they need to establish before summer. MulchMound.com delivers bulk compost to Phelan properties in quantities suited to large-parcel planting projects.

Delivering to Phelan, California
Primary ZIP: 92371Because Phelan experiences a legitimate frost season with freezes possible from mid-December through late January, perennial plants benefit from a protective layer of bulk wood chip mulch applied around their root zones before the first cold snap arrives. The insulating layer buffers soil temperature swings that can heave shallow roots on cold nights. Ordering mulch in bulk from MulchMound.com before December gives Phelan homeowners enough material to protect all established plantings without last-minute scrambling.

Phelan is a sprawling rural community in the Mojave Desert foothills where large lots and wide-open spaces are the norm, meaning residents often need substantial quantities of landscape material just to cover their property. MulchMound.com serves Phelan with bulk deliveries of decomposed granite, topsoil, and mulch that match the scale of these expansive parcels. The remote character of the area makes doorstep bulk delivery not just convenient but genuinely essential for serious landscaping projects.
