I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Rio Pinar Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
Rio Pinar properties that sit near water features or slope toward drainage areas benefit greatly from strategic erosion control using ground cover and bulk materials. Laying a thick layer of coarse mulch or pinning down erosion control matting on bare slopes helps hold soil in place during the heavy afternoon downpours common from June through September. For steeper grades, consider placing larger decorative stones along the base of slopes to slow water flow and prevent washouts that can expose roots and undermine planting beds over time.

Try Our CalculatorRio Pinar's mature tree canopy creates a great opportunity to build deep mulch rings that protect surface roots and reduce competition from turf grass. Extend mulch rings at least four to six feet out from tree trunks and maintain a depth of three inches throughout the ring. Keeping grass away from tree bases reduces stress on the trees and minimizes weed trimmer damage to bark, helping Rio Pinar's large shade trees stay healthy for decades.
Late February through March is the prime window for Rio Pinar homeowners to renovate tired or patchy lawn areas before summer heat arrives. Topdressing bare spots with bulk topsoil and filling in with Bahia or St. Augustine plugs gives grass time to establish before conditions intensify. Laying fresh mulch in nearby planting beds at the same time keeps the overall Rio Pinar landscape looking sharp from the very start of the growing season.
