I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Sahuarita Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
Sahuarita's flat lots may not look prone to erosion, but intense monsoon downpours can sheet across bare soil and strip topsoil before it has a chance to absorb. Spreading a 2 to 3 inch layer of shredded wood mulch over bare soil areas and along swales slows runoff velocity and keeps nutrients in place. For larger bare patches, combine mulch with drought-tolerant groundcovers like trailing lantana to create a living erosion barrier that fills in fully by the following growing season.

Try Our CalculatorSahuarita's open, sunny lots are ideal for native and desert-adapted plantings that provide seasonal color without straining irrigation systems. Species like desert lavender, autumn sage, and black-footed daisy thrive in the area's sandy soils and return reliably each season. Adding a layer of decomposed granite around these plants suppresses weeds and maintains the dry root conditions that natives prefer throughout Sahuarita's long growing season.
Delivering to Sahuarita, Arizona
Primary ZIP: 85629+1 ZIP codes
During Sahuarita's dry stretches between spring and the July monsoon onset, organic mulch applied at 3 inches deep over tree and shrub beds dramatically reduces watering frequency. The layer acts as insulation against the intense solar heat that bakes surface soil in Zone 9b. Reapply mulch annually since organic material breaks down over time and the protective depth diminishes noticeably with each passing season.
