Most Nashua orders pair landscape rock with fabric underlayment to block weeds through the till, plus edging to keep stone out of the lawn during snow plowing and shoveling season. Some customers add a run of drainage stone near downspouts before the decorative layer goes down. If you are also working topsoil or mulch beds elsewhere in the yard, it is worth scheduling both deliveries together.

Nashua's glacial till compacts hard once it is wet, so lay landscape fabric before the rock goes down rather than after you notice weeds coming through. Overlap fabric seams by at least six inches and pin them, because till shifts slightly with frost heave each winter and loose fabric edges will curl up through the stone by the second season.
