I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Moraga Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
Moraga experiences some of the warmest summer temperatures in the East Bay hills, which means container plants and shallow-rooted shrubs can dry out surprisingly fast. To combat this, mix water-retaining polymer crystals into your potting or planting soil at installation and then top-dress containers with a fine bark mulch. This layered moisture strategy can cut your summer irrigation frequency nearly in half, saving water and keeping plants looking their best through August.

Try Our CalculatorMoraga homeowners with established lawns should consider converting turf areas that receive heavy afternoon sun to mulched, drought-tolerant planting beds. Start by sheet mulching the turf with cardboard and then apply 4 to 6 inches of bulk wood chip mulch from MulchMound.com. Once the grass is smothered, plant heat-tolerant natives like salvia, penstemon, and buckwheat to create a low-water landscape that handles Moraga's intense summer heat far better than traditional turf.

Delivering to Moraga, California
Primary ZIP: 94556In Moraga, clay loam soil tends to crack and pull away from foundation areas during the long dry season, which can affect irrigation patterns and plant health near structures. Applying a generous 3-inch compost layer to beds adjacent to the home in late spring helps retain moisture in the soil and reduces extreme shrink-swell cycles. Ordering bulk compost from MulchMound.com gives you enough material to treat foundation plantings and garden beds across your entire property.
