My experience with Mulch Mound was great and super easy. I ordered two yards of screened topsoil and was able to get it delivered within 2 days. They came in my requested time frame (afternoon) and dropped it off where I asked on my driveway. The topsoil was exactly what was advertised, clean with no rocks or other debris. The price was reasonable. I plan to use them again in a couple weeks to order compost for my garden beds.

Thibodaux is live oak country, and those root systems hate being smothered. Never pile mulch against the trunk or build a raised bed over the root plate. Spread a thin two inch layer of pine straw or shredded hardwood out to the drip line instead, leaving the root flare fully exposed. Compaction and buried bark kill more mature oaks here than storms do.

Instead, topdress beds with an inch of compost twice a year and let earthworms work it down. Over two or three seasons the top six inches loosen enough that new shrubs actually push roots outward instead of circling.
