I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Hobart's rural properties often include large lawn areas that suffer from compaction caused by heavy equipment and livestock foot traffic. Topdressing compacted lawns with a half inch layer of bulk screened topsoil in early spring, right after the March 20 last frost date, gives grass roots the loose growing medium they need to recover and thicken quickly. MulchMound.com delivers screened topsoil in quantities large enough to cover even the biggest Hobart lawn areas in one efficient delivery.

Try Our CalculatorHobart properties with vegetable gardens or berry patches benefit greatly from a generous application of bulk compost each spring before planting. The region's gravelly sandy loam drains fast, which means organic matter added in fall has largely broken down by planting time, so a second spring application right after the March 20 last frost date keeps nutrients available through the growing season. MulchMound.com can deliver compost in quantities large enough to cover all of your Hobart growing areas at once.

Hobart homeowners managing wooded property edges can reduce annual weeding labor significantly by laying a thick 4 inch layer of bulk wood chip mulch along the transition zone between lawn and tree lines. This suppresses opportunistic weeds, slows the encroachment of brambles, and gives the area a clean finished appearance without requiring edging or chemicals. A single bulk delivery from MulchMound.com can cover hundreds of linear feet of woodland border in one efficient project.
