I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Upland Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
Upland homeowners dealing with slope erosion should explore installing a decomposed granite pathway combined with native groundcovers to stabilize hillside areas. Decomposed granite compacts firmly when properly installed, reducing runoff during the brief but intense rain events that this region occasionally experiences. Order bulk decomposed granite in a natural tan or gray tone to blend with Upland's mountain backdrop and achieve a polished look that also serves a functional purpose.

Try Our CalculatorUpland gardeners planting near the foothills should factor in occasional frost events between December 4 and February 24 when selecting plants for exposed areas. Covering frost-sensitive plants like citrus and bougainvillea with breathable frost cloth on cold nights protects tender growth without trapping damaging moisture. Adding a fresh layer of wood chip mulch around the base of frost-sensitive plants in November also insulates roots and improves the plant's ability to recover from minor cold events.

Delivering to Upland, California
Primary ZIP: 91786Upland homeowners with mature trees should consider a deep root fertilization program in late winter to support strong growth heading into the warm season. Blending a granular slow-release fertilizer into the mulch layer beneath the tree's drip line allows nutrients to move gradually into the root zone with each irrigation cycle. Maintaining a four inch wood chip mulch layer under Upland's established trees also supports the beneficial soil microorganism activity that breaks down organic matter and makes nutrients available to tree roots naturally.
