I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Marina Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
Marina sits close enough to the shoreline that salt spray and salty groundwater stress sensitive plants. Lean on proven coastal performers such as coast rosemary, lupine, ceanothus, and myoporum along exposed edges, and reserve tender ornamentals for protected courtyards. Flush the root zone with a deep slow watering monthly to move accumulated salts below the roots. A thick mulch layer slows that salt from wicking back up.

Try Our CalculatorMarina's dune sand drains so fast that water and nutrients disappear before roots can use them. Blend three inches of compost into the top eight inches of any new bed, then top with two inches of bark to slow evaporation. Repeat the compost topdress every spring, because sandy soil burns through organic matter quickly. Over three seasons this builds a loam layer that holds moisture between irrigation cycles.

Delivering to Marina, California
Primary ZIP: 93933Steady afternoon wind off the bay dries Marina landscapes faster than the mild temperatures suggest. Set irrigation to run before seven in the morning while the air is still, since midday spray blows off target and wastes half the water. A staggered hedge of Pacific wax myrtle or escallonia on the windward side cuts velocity across the yard and lets softer plantings behind it thrive.
Get Started with Mulch mound Today
Marina occupies former dune terrain just north of the old Fort Ord lands, and its soils reflect that sandy origin. New development has brought fresh yards that need real soil building before lawns or gardens take hold. Loam blends, compost, and mulch by the cubic yard get those landscapes started properly. MulchMound covers Marina with deliveries sized for both starter yards and full renovations.
