I used Mulch Mound to have 3 cubic yards of garden soil delivered. The process was easy and I love that I didn't have to call anyone. I placed my order online, picked my delivery date, laid out my tarp and the dirt was delivered. My delivery had to be pushed back, but I was kept informed via text, which was great. So why not 5 stars? The description of garden soil on the website is "A balanced mix of topsoil and organic amendments ready for raised beds, flower gardens, and new planting areas. Good drainage, solid nutrients, easy to work with." What I got was more like fill dirt. It had a lot of gravel, a lot of clay, and random trash mixed in. I didn't test the soil to see if it actually had "amendments" because I already have compost and alpaca manure ready to add, but if I'd known the quality of the dirt was going to be the same as the bagged dirt I bought last year, I probably would have gotten 2 yards of top soil and a yard of leaf compost for better quality, especially since the leaf compost is cheaper. Photo of my mountain of dirt and just some of the trash I found in it.

Complete Your Sonoma Outdoor Project
We’ve got you covered with our full line of landscape supply products, from premium mulch and quality soil to decorative stone, helping you create a cohesive, professional landscape that enhances your property for years to come.
Sonoma gardeners who grow culinary herbs and vegetables should build raised beds filled with a custom bulk soil blend rather than working with the existing ground. A mix of two parts quality topsoil to one part compost creates the loose, nutrient-rich environment that edible plants prefer. MulchMound.com can deliver both materials in a single drop so you can blend and fill your beds in one productive weekend.

Try Our CalculatorSonoma homeowners with established rose gardens should apply a fresh three-inch layer of bulk shredded bark mulch each March after pruning is complete. Mulching right after the late-frost window closes around March 31 protects newly emerging root activity and suppresses early spring weed growth before it competes with roses for nutrients. The bark also moderates soil temperature swings between cool mornings and the warm Sonoma afternoons that arrive by late spring.

Delivering to Sonoma, California
Primary ZIP: 95476Sonoma properties with gravel walkways or decomposed granite patios benefit from an annual top-up in early fall before the rainy season begins. A one-inch refresh layer of bulk decomposed granite applied in October compacts naturally with the first winter rains, restoring a firm and level surface. Order it by the yard from MulchMound.com well ahead of the November rains so you have time to spread and rake it evenly before the ground saturates.
